Bardonecchia and Tourism
Bardonecchia is a traditional border town in the sunny Susa Valley
(Italy's Piedmont region). Next to the French border on the Italian side of the Frejus Tunnel, Bardonecchia has grown from a typical mountain town into a cosmopolitan holiday resort.
At the end of 1800 it was a summer holiday resort for aristocracy and bourgeoisie of Torino and Genova. We have to wait untill the beginning of 1900 to see Bardonecchia as a winter holiday resort. In 1908 the Ski Club Bardonecchia (one of the first in Italy) was founded and within few years the Village became a famous tourist resort.
Bardonecchia sits in a sunny valley at 4265 ft (1300 meters) and it's a modern resort with a wide range of sport activities to practice. This particular combination has helped to develop tourism, today one of the most important incoming for the town.
Bardonecchia is one of the most gorgeous spots of the Western Alps, but its strength is the easiness to be reached.
In high season periods there are up to 30.000 tourists a day in hotels, apartments and other tourist locations.
In Bardonecchia you can satisfy every desire, you will find: typical restaurants, bars, pubs, a discotheque, a movie theater, gyms, a swimming pool, fitness courses, tennis courts, a soccer pitch and a lot of other indoor/outdoor sport activities.
You can also find the "Palazzo delle Feste" a liberty style building with a theater, a meetings room and a large place for exhibitions.
